I blink my eyes for a moment. Am I seeing this right? Driving over the green hills of Puglia I see small, round houses with pointy domed roofs all around me. It’s like a scene from a fairytale! I later learn that these adorable dwellings are known as trullis and they quickly zoom into my list of top five favourite places to stay. They’re cosy, surrounded by the distinctive purple flowers of the region, and the sky above is impossibly blue.
Oh, Puglia, I love you very much!
Not much later I am standing in my own trulli. Everything here is taken care of down to the last detail. Not only is the trulli stylish and elegantly furnished, the sweet owner Silvana offered me breakfast when I arrived. My eyes immediately fell on the homemade bread rolls, cakes, savory tarts, fresh fruit and homemade jams… Even the food here is magical!
When I think back to my stay in such a cone-shaped house, I immediately get a smile on my face. For example, the trulli of Masseria Rosa was a perfect base to explore the Italian Puglia. And, the owner of Leonardo Trulli Resort organized a special wine tour. Here I have been able to admire the best wines from various regions of Italy. During my travels I have discovered many more culinary spots where you can also enjoy the local dishes. Staying in an atmospheric trulli with the most friendly owners, guarantees a unique holiday in Italy!
