What is an agriturismo?

An agriturismo is a farm that has been transformed into a holiday home by the owners. There were also plenty of farmers on the Italian islands who established their country houses in the middle of the greenery. In Sardinia, they are now rural hotels surrounded by nature. Here you can taste the typical Italian food and there is a relaxed atmosphere. If you're lucky, there's also an on-site restaurant where the ingredients still come from the farm's production. The Sardinian regional dishes are still prepared according to an authentic recipe!

The countryside can be so atmospheric and relaxing, especially on the Italian islands. While you look out over the vineyards of the rustic agriturismo, you can hear the sound of the sea in the distance. But in addition to enjoying the silence, there is plenty to do during a holiday in Sardinia. The villages are rich in cultural heritage with plenty of history and art to discover. Walk the endless beaches or go on an adventure in the mountains.

After a day of adventure, return to the agriturismo and take a dip in the cooling pool. Then spend the evening on the terrace of the restaurant on-site to enjoy the local flavors with a lovely glass of wine. That's the Burgundian way of life! One thing that is certain, a unique stay awaits you.

There is only one way to discover the Sardinian landscape: getting out and about by car! Often a rural agriturismo is located in a quiet, secluded spot away from the crowd. It is nice to have a car available as soon as you want to go on an adventure.

Getting to an agriturismo in Sardinia can be a bit more difficult than you may be used to, but for me, it is a feeling of ultimate freedom and adventure. It’s also so nice to feel like you are living like the locals. What certainly helps is that upon arrival a lovely owner is there to welcome you warmly with typical Italian hospitality. Whether you come with your own car or with a rental car, you will definitely need it.
