Winters drag on (and on and on!) for us here in Britain. But so many European destinations are blessed with that sunny springtime feeling in March. Which makes it a great month to escape our dreary British climate.

Looking for a destination where the sun always shines in March? Two of my favourites are Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. It almost feels like winter never really arrives. I also love travelling to southern Portugal. Its cuisine has many hearty dishes perfect for this time of year. The island of Madeira looks its best between March and June. That's why I prefer visiting the island in early spring, to see nature wake up and show its springtime glory! A great destination for nature lovers for sure.
