When my friend Melina told me that she didn't know the Mediterranean well yet, I promised her: we are going to enjoy a week in Portugal. I knew from my previous trips through the country that this promise would not be difficult to fulfill. But when Melina and I entered our own holiday home in Portugal, it was even more beautiful than all my previous trips… This was fantastic: our 'own' house in the green Portuguese hills, with a view of a peaceful village.
Barefooted I am sitting on the beach a little later, staring at the sun sinking into the water. The white sand tickles between my toes. I hold a glass of local wine in my hand. For a moment I turn my head to the landscape bordering the beach. In the distance, cheerful lights shimmer and illuminate the veranda of my holiday home. What a wonderful holiday in Portugal!

Portugal always manages to surprise me. I can drive around endlessly in my rental car, on deserted roads, and through quiet landscapes. That is how I prefer to spend a holiday: far away from the crowd, at a unique spot, preferably surrounded by beautiful nature, and with my own rental car that takes me to these quiet places. And I can tell you: enjoying yourself is not a difficult task in this beautiful country!
Portugal has so many beautiful places to discover. Where everyone turns right, I turn left. I found one unique holiday home in Portugal after another. In the Algarve I stayed in an authentic white holiday villa and in Madeira in a colorful farmhouse. In Alentejo the holiday homes had the typical blue doors and in Costa de Lisboa I stayed in a luxury villa that was equipped with all modern conveniences.
