The cosiness of a Bed & Breakfast in Portugal

With its gaze fixed westward on the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is a paradise for a beach holiday. The cosy, small-scale coastal towns move at a pleasant rhythm. Conviviality is essential to the Portuguese way of life, and I find that staying at a cosy B&B is often the best to surrender completely to this mode.

What is a B&B?

A Bed & Breakfast generally has a small-scale character. There are often only a few rooms that are tastefully decorated. The owner and staff pay a lot of attention to you as a guest. Don't forget to ask the owner for tips on what to do in the area. With these tips, you can really experience authentic Portugal.

Breakfast is also a very important part of the experience at a B&B in Portugal. Of course, it's already in the name! The owners serve you something delicious here every morning. Local, artisanal delicacies, fresh bread, jam made from figs from the garden… delicious! In Portugal, I was once treated to a healthy breakfast filled with fruit, granola, and freshly baked toast with avocado every morning. The sweet owner also served a different freshly squeezed juice every day for the necessary vitamins. What a treat!

Culinary enjoyment at a Bed and Breakfast in Portugal

Live like the locals

In the south of Portugal, the Algarve, the parchment-colored rocks wallow in the warm sunlight. In between are small sandy beaches and enticing light blue water. Did you know that many Portuguese often choose the Algarve as a holiday destination themselves? Not surprising, because it is so incredibly beautiful.

Portuguese cuisine enchants me! So I settled in Northern Portugal with a well-filled stomach on the terrace of my B&B. And then the restaurants... It's no surprise that I was able to try so many culinary highlights here on the Costa Verde. The wines from this area complement every meal!

My places in Madeira are wonderfully away from the crowd. On a small beach outside the town, not far from my B&B, I took a dip in the Mediterranean Sea. I even took my first diving lesson here! And don't forget the swimming pool at a B&B! A refreshing dive into the pool is always a lovely way to start the day.
